Blue Tree

A dead tree, for a long time unnoticed on our farm, once important shade for stock, but now destined for firewood...’ began the yarn. ‘I wanted to enhance its sculptural form, make visible its beauty and save it from being chopped down. I did this by wrapping it up and hiding it in the blue summer sky.’

This anecdote excused, even humoured, those who found my practice of wrapping a dead old tree in used blue bale twine questionable.

My blue tree, after taking a year to complete, was uprooted in a storm only three days after completion.  I was however lucky to capture a few night photos before this storm.
